The PhD fellow position is for a period of three years and full time studies with the possibility of an extension of the appointment period. If the doctoral dissertation is submitted for appraisal within 3 years or within 3,5 year, the PhD candidate is qualified for a completion grant for either 12 or 6 months.

Ideal candidates should obtain a degree in Political Science, International Relations, or a closely related field; knowledge of politics in post-communist Eastern European countries and fluency in at least one Central and Eastern European language. The salary will be in accordance with university regulations for academic personnel and amounts to €2,541 (PhD) per month during the first year and increases to €3,247 (PhD) per month during the fourth year, based on a full-time employment.

The position is for 28 months and is open for holders of a doctoral degree (PhD) in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science or a related field. UvA offers a competitive academic salary (the gross monthly salary, based on 38 hours per week and dependent on relevant work experience, ranges between € 2,960 to € 4,670) and relocation assistance.

To qualify for the program, students must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science (or a related field) and have an outstanding academic record. We especially encourage applications from students who wish to explore research across the CS spectrum before committing to a topic and advisor. All admitted students are offered full financial support.
